First, our Call To Action buttons simply disappeared from the site. When I logged into the wordpress dashboard, I saw no clue why that might have happened as they were still in the widget areas they were supposed to be in. When I clicked ‘updates’, however, I finally saw a notice that the Call To Action database (I believe) needed to be updated.
Okay. Not an ideally transparent way of letting me know….but okay. I clicked the link to “run the update cycle” (or words to that effect) and was taken to the Call To Action page of the dashboard. No messages. No “update complete”. No “run update”. I checked to see if the buttons were showing up again and, sure enough, they were there.
Okay. Again…not at all transparent…but okay.
However – for lack of formatting controls and because it seemed to work, I’ve been using html directly in the text fields of the edit screen in order to get that text to look the way we want it to look. Now – post DB update – that formatting has all been lost. I’ll have to recreate it from memory.
I’d love to see all of this handled more gracefully; with ALL text in the already-configured Calls To Action kept intact…including the html. Barring that, some more robust formatting controls are desperately needed.
The site is here. I’ve tried editing the text and formatting using html and inline styles (as I’d been doing prior to the forced DB update)…but now if I insert any html/styles into the text entry field, the text color becomes white NO MATTER WHAT TEXT COLOR HAS BEEN SELECTED IN THE CTA EDITOR. The upshot is: I can no longer format the text at ALL unless I don’t mind it being white.
Very frustrating, I must say.
