SO I was getting frustrated with Divi so I switched to Elementor page builder. Was happy to see that the page builder loaded fine on the backend, but when I try to view the page the page content isn’t loading.
Whats the best way to troubleshoot?

I just checked my file assets and didn’t see any history with attempting to build an elementor extension.
If you upload the Elementor asset here I can test to see if it’s something I can fix locally.
It’s not always easy to get these pagebuilders to work well with Landing Pages plugin because of the way we store variation data in meta pairs. Most pagebuilders are using specialized ways of calling and saving post_content , which skips our storage and retrieval filters and I have to find ways to tie into their custom storage/retrieval filters. Sometimes there’s no filters available.
Sometimes the pagebuilder works, but it won’t treat variations differently causing Variation B to overwrite Variation A and Variation A to overwrite Variaton B.
I just tried to perform an integration with Avia Template Builder (Enfold Theme) yesterday and discovered I was unable to get it to work due to lack of propper filters provided.
That being said, happy to give Elementor a try. I’ve worked with it before unrelated to Inbound Now tools via client work on Codeable.

OK great – when you say upload the asset what do you mean?
Elementor is available for free (lite version) through wordpress.org
Happy to send you files as well:February 22, 2019 at 4:54 am #134563
Not sure if this helps but I dont need most of the custom fields that are included in the LPs like conversion area, conversion widget etc as I just use a page builder and place gravity forms to collect leads.February 22, 2019 at 5:01 am #134565
Oh and I’m using Astra theme – not sure if thats relevant.February 22, 2019 at 6:09 am #134571

I agree. When I rebuild this model I’ll ditch those.
I’ll also download Elementor and give it a test to see what I find out.
You’re welcome to upload the Astra theme asset here too, just in case it’s related.February 22, 2019 at 8:10 am #134580
I managed to get a very basic integration working. It will help get landing pages to work for page building, but it will not handle variations switching, though you’ll see where I began to try and write in support for variations.

I didn’t notice stylesheet issues on my test environment. I’ll look back into it today.
I sent elementor an email today too. I don’t have access to create a support thread there. Do you?
Here’s my email to them:
I’ve a client & Elementor customer asking for integration help with the Landing Pages WordPress plugin, which provides split testing capabilities.
I’m supporting the customer here (https://support.inboundnow.com/support/topic/bug-with-elementor/) , and looking to help build an integration extension between our two products and could use a hand/advise in completing the integration.
I’ve gotten most of the integration complete, but am having trouble with one part… intercepting the _elementor_data meta value.
I was wondering if you knew the best way I could intercept this data on storage and retrieval.
I believe I could write a hook that listened for the meta key, but a custom filter would be great.
I’d love to explain what Landing Pages is doing, and maybe have a quick chat with a developer, or find a seat in the company Slack room for chats if your team is open to it.

I took a look at the issue with stylesheets and discovered how I’m storing data is incorrect.
I really need help from Elementor staff on this one. Without it I don’t think I’ll be able to make an integration. Could take me 10-20 hours to figure out what I’m missing alone.February 23, 2019 at 2:27 pm #134608
OK – their support seems pretty good so hopefully they’ll get back to you.
Thanks Hudson!February 25, 2019 at 9:53 am #134623
Got a reponse asking me to open up a Git Issue. Opened one up here if you’d like to follow along:February 27, 2019 at 5:15 pm #134649
I got a email response from Raz and elementor with good leads on improving the asset.
Here’s the updated plugin. Will you see if you have improved results?

OK tested this out – looks like it works great when there is just one variant.
When I loaded a second variant to test things started to get a bit buggy.
I shot this video:
