So, I’ve launched our fancy dancy new website, and everything is automated with IBN. But, the forms are causing ‘Bad Request’ errors. And then the person has to clear their cache and cookies and then wait a while before attempting again because the entire website breaks for them until they do it.
Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand.
Size of a request header field exceeds server limit.
This only happens on IBN forms. Are my forms too big? We’ve increased the limit file size or whatever it’s called in apache. Tech support says it’s not the server. I’m at my wits end. We just launched and it’s giving this error so people aren’t able to do their apps and in turn pay us. 🙁 Thank you so much!
I still have that same account for you on my server from you checking it out yesterday. I’ll give you back the admin rights back for when you’re ready to take a look. 🙂
Does it throw this error when editing the forms from the backend?
Our form tool is something we did not build from the ground up (we imported a solution from another codebase) and the when a form has lots and lots of fields the preview breaks because too many GET parameters are passed in the URL. It’s annoying for people who want to collect a lot of information using Inbound Forms. When customers run into this problem I always recommend they use the Ninja Forms 3 plugin to manage their forms. Or Gravity Forms. Or Contact Forms 7. We provide an extension for all three that will help you map to the leads database, tag and add to lists.
Ninja Forms 3 and Contact Forms 7 are both free. I personally would recommend switching Form systems if your forms are used for long surveys. Inbound Now is good for small collections, but has obvious shortcomings when it comes to larger ones. If you can get buy without the preview the long forms should work without issue on the front end.
